Windows Live Mail 2011 15.4 - Send Photos Better, View Emails Threaded

Windows Live Mail - Free Email ProgramWindows Live Mail, the Outlook Express for Windows Vista and 7, has been updated alongside its companion Live products. The new Live Mail not only makes it easy to share photos — even big ones in gobs —, it will automatically create a gallery, too, or let you add frames and remove color.
Windows Live Mail now is a tad more like Outlook, too: a ribbon replaces the menu and a sidebar puts your calendar right next to your mail (but affords no additional interaction).
›› Windows Live Mail is a comfortable email program that lets you access IMAP, POP and Windows Live Hotmail accounts with verve and ambition to connect with Windows Live Messenger, Windows Live Calendar, your blog and RSS news feeds, too. (Windows)

How to Rearrange Mail Folders in Mac OS X Mail

Three's the magic and the highest number; more simultaneous downloads in iTunes? You'll have to wait.
To wait less for a longed-for podcast episode, you can chase the other downloads with their Pause buttons, of course, and resume transmissions in the coveted order.
Or you move the mouse around the screen a bit, holding down its button now and then — to drag and drop the downloads in the order you prefer.
Speaking of re-ordering:
›› Why rename folders to get them into the desired order when you can get the same result with some mouse flicking in Mac OS X Mail?

Treats Please - Free Email Stationery Download and E-Card

Treats Please - Free Email Stationery Download and E-CardHarvest time is nuts: chest- and walnuts abound, best served and savored at an open fire at night with cider and fruits. Halloween, consequently, used to be known as Nut-Crack Night in certain Scottish circles — and nuts certainly make for tasty treats, on nut-cracking night or in Halloween email stationery:
›› Treat me well with my lovely Victorian Halloween stationery. Please. (Windows Mail, Windows Live Mail, Outlook, Outlook Express)

How to Insert an Image Inline in Opera

Ears sailing downwind, you have the sun behind you, too; perfect!
Since birds land into the wind, you'll catch that goose head on, spread wings and neck lit by the low, orange sun; what a striking photo!
Now send that image with like verve and style, in line with wind and text in Opera:
›› Want to add images to the text of your emails instead of as attachments? Here's how to insert pictures inline with Opera.

Gmail - With or Without Conversations

Gmail (Google Mail) - Free Email ServiceLove Gmail — and your emails to show individually, not lumped together by whatever Gmail deems "conversations"?
Gmail now lets you turn off threading.
Other recent additions have been to the Android app, which shows the Priority label for mail marked important, for example (but offers no way to add or remove the label).
›› Gmail is the Google approach to email, chat and social networking. Practically unlimited free online storage allows you to collect all your messages, and Gmail's simple but very smart interface lets you find mail precisely and see it in context without effort.

Halloween Ghost Glow - Free Email Stationery and E-Card

Halloween Ghost Glow - Free Email Stationery Download and E-CardIts paint devours blue and violet light, then spits it back as red, yellow or orange. During the day, nothing much happens.
At dusk and twilight, however, the ghost coated in fluorescent paint begins to glow:
›› Send glowing, animated and frightening wishes for a Happy Halloween. (Windows Mail, Windows Live Mail, Outlook, Outlook Express)

View a Message's Source in Windows Mail, Outlook Expr.

It's fairly obvious where the Amazon river ends. Where, though, does it begin?
Locating a river's most distant source is an exciting adventure that, with countless streams spread over remote Andean glaciers to consider, can last for centuries. Recently, a glacial stream flowing off Nevado Mismi, a mountain some 5,500 meter (18,400 foot) high in southern Peru, has been established as the Amazon's origin.
Of course, not only rivers have origins and sources. Emails, for example, have sources that are fairly easy to uncover — and the data found there can even lead you to the email's origin:
›› Look behind an email's pretty face and see its source in Windows Live Mail, Windows Mail or Outlook Express. You can even view a message's source without opening the message itself.

How to Use Rich HTML Formatting in Emails with Opera

A club of Florentine men read, discussed, and reached a far-reaching conclusion: the ancient Greeks did not speak their drama; they sang it.
Aiming to recreate that emotional experience and rejecting the word-painting musical style of its day, the Florentine Camerata invented the recitative — and opera.
Now, how about singing your emails while you send them and adding some formatting, too, for, say, the emotional experience — in Opera?
›› Want to add some formatting to your email's text or call forth a special font for effect perhaps? Here's how to use rich HTML formatting for an email in Opera and make it the default, too.

Postbox 2.0 - More Concentration on Email

Postbox - Email ProgramWant your email program to make you focus better? Postbox 2 comes with new helpful treats: an array of quick filters lets you reduce any message list to key contacts and certain topics, for example; a "to-do" view shows just messages marked for action; and you can combine all your inboxes into one — but also arrange them in meaningful groups.
Also new to Postbox 2 are a handy shortcut for fast filing (in addition to one for fast labeling) and a frill-less way to jot quick replies.
›› Postbox is a mighty polished Mozilla Thunderbird that brings together fast and ubiquitous search, the powerful Mozilla Thunderbird email underpinnings and conveniences such as a conversation view and some social network integration. (Windows, Mac)

Have a Great Birthday! - Free Email Stationery and E-Card

Have a Great Birthday! - Free Email Stationery Download and E-CardJohn Atanasoff took a long drive. In Rock Island, the Iowa State assistant professor finally had a bourbon — and, the story goes, an idea: a calculator without moving parts. Using electricity, it would compute fast and in a straight-forward manner using base-two numbers. The Atanasoff-Berry computer was born.
Speaking of birthdays: it's John Atanasoff's! Celebrate him (or anybody else, of course) today (or any other day, of course) with a birthday cake today:
›› A great birthday needs a great birthday cake — and great birthday stationery. (Windows Mail, Windows Live Mail, Outlook, Outlook Express)

Microsoft Office Outlook Connector - Windows Live Hotmail for Outlook Add-On

You're one of Darwin's famous finches, but that doesn't help: your tongue is simply too short and the head too big to reach into the crack in the bark for larvae.
Fortunately, there's always a stick or cactus spine around to put in your beak. With this artificial tongue, reaching the prey is, well, not exactly easy — but elegant and possible.
Woodpecker finches use third-party tools to catch up to 50% of their food, so it can't be wrong for Outlook to employ add-ons where its tongue doesn't reach, can it?
›› Better your Outlook with productivity add-ons, spam filters and more. Here are the most popular Outlook extensions.

What Spam Filter Are You Using?

Seth Breidbart computes the square root of 37 on Monday. On Wednesday, it's the root of 75. A week later, Breidbart works out the root of 29, and adds up the results.
That's 20.13 for Seth Breidbart — not the hacker, of course, but his index. A Breidbart index over 20, computed from how often the same message appears in Usenet newsgroups, is a strong hint the message can be dropped as spam.
Speaking of spam filtering, what index or tool keeps your inbox clean?
›› By the numbers, spam should be everywhere. If it's not 95% of your email inbox, chances are you have a spam filter to thank. Which spam filter, though, is it? Do you rely on your email service's; the filter built into your email program; a separate spam filter perhaps? Share your pick here and find out what spam filtering others are using, too.
