Gmail - Smart Labels and a Second Layer of Log-In Security

Gmail (Google Mail) - Free Email ServiceWant your email to organize — itself? Gmail's new "SmartLabels" come close: with minimal setup and just about no administering, they categorize mail and let you deal with them separately, to move newsletters from the inbox, for example, or highlight receipts.
Other recent additions to Gmail let you protect your account with a second layer of security; have Priority Inbox folders and markers appear in web-based Gmail for iOS and Android; find phone numbers for dialing in emails; and make it a snap to add groups of people to groups or pick a contact's address to be used in a group.
›› Gmail is the Google approach to email, chat and social networking. Practically unlimited free online storage allows you to collect all your messages, and Gmail's simple but very smart interface lets you find mail precisely and see it in context without effort.

Buttercup - Free Email Stationery Download and E-Card

Buttercup - Free Email Stationery Download and E-CardIt's bitter.
Fortunately, bitterness is one of the effects protoanemonin has on the mouth and stomach of anybody curious to find out how a yellow cup-like flower might taste.
So, poisoning from munched buttercups is rare. They, like other ranunculi, also cause skin rashes and blisters, of course, when cut... It's probably best to admire buttercups' bright boldness from some distance, then, soon in the world out there and right now already in your email:
›› Buttercup yellow is not only a great color to wear, the bright buttercup in this stationery will also suit your emails well. (Windows Mail, Windows Live Mail, Outlook, Outlook Express)

Now, you don't have to talk to your emails aloud while typing (a lot) to hurt others' feelings of style and etiquette. Fortunately, many dolorous perils are easily circumnavigated:
›› Learn how to use email without offending anybody, how to format your messages, the right way to reply and forward, and a lot more in lessons coming to you comfortably — via email.

Sync Your Mac OS X Mail Address Book with Gmail Contacts

The iSync icon in your Mac's menu sends you spinning round and round every possible pane in the System Preferences for a knob to turn it — off?
Try holding down the Command key while dragging the icon out of the menu bar, then dropping it. This also works with other such icons, by the way, and syncing your Mac OS X Address Book with your Gmail contacts will work with or without that icon:
›› Contacts in Mac OS X Mail and contacts in Gmail, updating each other? Here's how to set up Mac OS X Address Book and Google Gmail contact synchronization.

The Best in Email - The 2011 Readers' Choice Awards

Nominate Your Favorite Email Programs, Services and Innovations — The 2011 Readers' Choice AwardsLucta? Pugilatus? It's not quite clear what happened in Rome 186 BC, three years after the Aetolian League had been crushed under consul Marcus Fulvius Nobilior. Livy tells of exceptional triumphal celebrations, though, with lion hunts, Greek actors and — for the first time in Roman history — athletes.
Now, Livy does not reveal the winners in the boxing (pugilatus) or maybe wrestling (lucta) competitions — but I can reveal this year's best email products, the winners in the 2011 Readers' Choice Awards:
›› From best free email service to the top email innovation of 2010: here are the winners of the 2011 Readers' Choice Awards.

Spring has Sprung - Free IncrediMail Letter and E-Card

Spring has Sprung - Free IncrediMail Letter Download and E-CardWhen day and night are equal, the day is some 15 minutes longer. The sun rises when its first rays appear on the horizon, not when its center becomes visible, and it sets only when the top tip disappears; adding to that, the earth's atmosphere bends the light so you already see the sun when it is actually below the horizon assuming a straight line of sight.
In any event, day and night have been equally long, the sun has crossed the equator — and, in the Northern Hemisphere, spring has sprung:
›› Awake your computer from hibernation and announce with the help of this IncrediMail letter, eggs and a curious chick: Spring has sprung! (IncrediMail)

How to Restore or Import Your Mac OS X Mail Address Book from a Backup Copy

Sweet; and sour!
This pomelo is delicious. I'm not so convinced of its nutritional value, though: it seems I expend more energy wrestling the flesh from their shells than I could ever hope to restore from the laboriously acquired treat; not to mention peeling the miles-thick rind (which is great candied or in marmalade, of course)...
Speaking of restoring, you hope to regain miles and miles of Mac OS X Mail contacts? With a backup, that's not so laborious:
›› Syncing went wrong? Contacts are lost? Not, of course, if you have created a backup copy of your Mac OS X Mail address book. Here's how to bring back your contacts, or import an archive to a different account or computer.

How to Moderate and Delete Google Buzz Comments to Your Post

"The animal needing something knows how much it needs," wrote Democritus some 2,500 years ago. Unfortunately, the "laughing philosopher"'s works have come to us only as fragments. We do know how Democritus continued this quip, though: "The human who needs something, however, does not."
Now, it seems somebody did not know how much commenting your Buzz post needed? Time for a little moderation:
›› Wish a comment to one of your Google Buzz posts was not there, or want to report a comment as spam? Here's how to moderate comments to your messages in Gmail and Buzz mobile.

MailMate 1.0 - Super-Efficient Mac IMAP Email

MailMate - Email ProgramSome threads are bushy and thick; others narrow and thin; some threads are a bit of both. All email threads are visualized well, though, with points and narrow half moons connecting them.
Around 2003, IBM's Collaborative User Experience Research group in Cambridge, MA, experimented with new ways to organize and display mail. One smart idea were thread arcs, which showed threads not as trees but arranged chronologically like beads on a line, each message connected to all its replies and parents with arcs. Messages with two replies or more in a thread made the graph look "bushy"; a long string of emails one replying just to its former sported a "narrow" look.
Reads complicated? To see what your mail looks like treated under message arcs, press Command-3 in — MailMate:
›› MailMate is a refreshingly efficient way to deal with mail in IMAP accounts, all with handy keyboard shortcuts, superior search and precise smart folders. (Mac)

Wooden Shoe St. Patrick's Day - Free Stationery, E-Card

Wooden Shoe St. Patrick's Day - Free Email Stationery Download and E-CardFor a plant called "sour vinegar", Oxalis acetosella's leaves taste pleasantly tame. They look soothing, too, a bit lighter than clover but similarly green, heart-shaped and sitting in triads atop their stems.
Oxales acetosellae are commonly known as "wood-sorrel", of course — because they (or their kin) commonly occur, I guess, in wooden shoes:
›› Put on the right shoe first, and put on this lucky stationery for St. Patrick's Day. (Windows Mail, Windows Live Mail, Outlook, Outlook Express)

How to Block a Sender in IncrediMail

Antennae in the sun, headed south!
A monarch butterfly's antennae not only sense the wind, air pressure, sound and smell, they also see the sun's place in the sky and have a clock built in. This sun compass, together with other clues, shows them the way.
If, now, you want IncrediMail to show unwanted senders' emails the way due Deleted Items, point your eyes and fingers thus:
›› Send annoying mail to the trash automatically with IncrediMail.

Write normally, the manual said, as if you did not have an electric pen in your hand, a motor on its top and a sharp needle at the tip.
Now that you write or draw as normally as possible, your vibrating pen punches the paper 50 times every second. Through these tiny holes, ink will then flow in the press, creating up to 5,000 copies of the original document.
Edison's electric pen is a marvel; you don't need one, though, or write much to press Google Buzz for copies of your (or others') public writing:
›› Is Google Buzz a one-way street? Here's how to get your public posts out of Buzz and into any software, site and service that accepts RSS feeds (say, Facebook or Twitter) — and subscribe to anybody's feed in your favorite news reader.
